A Precinct Leader is an elected official of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party who represents Democratic voters in their neighborhood and serves on the County Central Committee. If you care about your community and our democracy, this role may be for you.
As a Precinct Leader, you’ll have two main responsibilities - party governance & community outreach.
Party Governance - you are a voting member of the County Central Committee, which is the governing body of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. Your vote helps determine the party's direction.
Vote for county Democratic Party leadership
Help fill vacancies when Democratic officials leave office
Community Engagement - Your outreach work is the “boots on the ground” part of the job, focused on engaging and supporting Democratic voters in your precinct
Introduce yourself to Democratic voters in your precinct
Answer voting questions and share election information
Support Democratic candidates and your local Democratic clubs
Participate in Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts
Print Form 2-L (Declaration of Candidacy) from the Ohio Secretary of State website:

Fill it out using the name you use to vote
Add your precinct, ward, and city
Get your precinct’s Democratic voter list – SDC can help you with this!
Collect 5–15 signatures from Democrats in your precinct
(Aim for at least 10 — Republicans and No Party voters may not sign)
Complete and sign the Circulator Statement
File in person by February 4, 2026 at:
